It will be interesting to see how the year ends up. As of 6/24/22, of the 51 indices and sectors tracked by First Trust in their weekly market update, only four have positive year-to-date (YTD) numbers - two of those being commodities and energy.
Let's be sure not to overact. On October 19, 1987, what's known as Black Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) plummeted 20% in one day. Just over two months later, it finished the year with a positive YTD number of just over 2% - not exactly exciting but a very good and quick recovery.
